THE FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHINESE LANGUAGE TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM AT HO CHI MINH CITY UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION

Abstract

This report aims to develop a strategic blueprint for the future development of the Chinese Language Teacher Education Program at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE), based on an in-depth analysis of its self-assessment report. Drawing on the AUN-QA quality assurance framework and the principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), the study adopts a document analysis approach to systematically examine the program’s performance in teaching, research, student support, and infrastructure. The report proposes four core strategic directions: (1) optimizing the collection and utilization of stakeholder feedback through the establishment of a synchronized mechanism; (2) enhancing faculty research capacity by reducing the student–teacher ratio and establishing a research incentive system; (3) improving teaching infrastructure by increasing investment in multimedia classrooms and promoting resource sharing, (4) enriching practical activities to foster students’ comprehensive competencies and practical skills. These strategies seek to address current challenges while consolidating existing strengths, ensuring that the department can continue to cultivate high-quality talent in Chinese language teacher education.
