SELECTING PHYSICAL GAMES TO IMPROVE ACTIVENESS OF CHILDREN AGED 5 TO 6 IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION ACTIVITIES IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract

 

Based on the educational philosophy of “child – centered”, improving the activeness of preschoolers in physical education activities is of educational purposes, and physical games play an important role in improving a child’s activeness. This study aims to select physical games which help to enhance the activeness of children aged 5 and 6 at kindergartens in physical education activities in Ho Chi Minh City. A survey was conducted with 120 people including PE experts, psychologists, educators, administrators, teachers and children aged 5 and 6 at some kindergartens. The results of the survey show that there are 24 physical games that are appropriate to children’s psychological characteristics and abilities, are able to meet safety standards for children, suitable for the current organizational capability of teachers, conditions of classrooms and playground of kindergartens. These games are also appropriate for developing basic motor skills and some motor attributes as well as stimulate the activeness of children aged 5 and 6.
