A STUDY OF CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR OF CHINESE LANGUAGE MAJORS

Abstract
The article reports findings from a study using a questionnaire to survey the classroom behavior of 211 second-year students majoring in the Chinese Language at Ho Chi Minh University of Foreign Languages - Information Technology. The results showed that the highest expression was sociability and the lowest expression was dominating others. There is no difference between male and female students, between students from urban areas and students from rural areas regarding the frequency of behavior in the classroom. The results also indicate a positive correlation between academic performance and classroom behaviors such as verbal participation, learning orientation, dominating others, support-seeking, and self-assurance. Based on the resulst, the article offers some recommendations for teaching.
