Abstract

 

The article focuses on recent educational theories and practices based on the humanistic approaches. The study used secondary data sources and the author's observations as a lecturer to discuss and clarify some theoretical and practical issues about humanistic education, a new, comprehensive and effective approach in education. In particular, the humanistic education stems from phenomenal consciousness for the comprehensive development of learners; considers learners to be centered- being "empowered" and expected”; and promotes human values system. This is one vital approach to develop the learnersneeds of cognitive development - one of the four higher oder demands based on Maslow's Hierarchy.
