Abstract

Based on previous research results on the conversion of nouns into verbs, this paper discusses the phenomenon of Chinese nouns that are transformed into Sino-Vietnamese verbal words (noun → verb) from the perspective of semantics and function. It was found that the verbalization of Chinese nouns is a shift from referential meaning to motion meaning of Sino-Vietnamese; After the conversion, the Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary loses the Chinese word initial grammatical functions and acquires a new POS in Vietnamese. However, the degree of conversion is different. Some are "completely transformed," and some are "partially transformed".
