STATISTICS TEACHING: A COMPARISON STUDY BETWEEN HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMME AND TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM

Statistics in 2018 Mathematics Curriculum has been significantly changed and will be taught from Grade 2 to Grade 12 instead of Grade 7 and Grade 10 as previously. This research aims to analyze the 2018 Mathematics Curriculum, in comparision with that of 2006 and the teacher education undergraduate program at the Department of Mathematics at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. The results show that some contents are mentioned in the programme 2018 but have not appeared explicitly in the training students programme in 2016. A questionnaire was distributed to the students of the Department of Mathematics at the University to find out how they understand some new statistics knowledge mentioned in the 2018 Mathematics Curriculum and what difficulties they may face. Some solutions are suggested based on the difficulties shared by the students.
