ANALYZE THE INTERNSHIP SCHEME IN THE UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM OF FRENCH LANGUAGE – TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION IN HO CHI MINH CITY UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION

Abstract

 

With the intention of improving the quality of training of the undergraduate program of French Language – Translation & Interpretation, a group of lecturers working in the Translation-Interpretation Faculty of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education proposed an internship scheme and conducted a study to evaluate its effects. The results analyzed from studentspracticum journals, the data from a questionnaire and interviews show that there is a gap between the model designed by the university and the schools where students were sent to during their practicum. The results also help to describe the profiles of practicum supervisors. The article also provides a detailed list of the activities for students, a comparison table of the resources a student has at the university and those required to perform given tasks. These results provide evidence for the university to review the curriculum to meet the markets.
