MEASURING STUDENTS' ATTITUDES TOWARD LEARNING MATHEMATICS IN HIGH SCHOOL
Main Article Content
Abstract
Attitude –- an important concept in the psychological category – has been noticed in many research areas related to education around the world. Particularly in Vietnam, research related to students' attitudes towards studying science subjects is still quite new, especially for learning Mathematics. This article discusses the concept and methods of measuring students' attitudes toward learning Mathematics. These methods are combined in the current research to measure the attitudes of 128 high school students in Hue City. The results showed that many students expressed their dislike of Mathematics even though they were aware that Mathematics is an important subject. Most of the students felt that Mathematics is abstract and lacks practical applications. The results will be the basis for studying how to integrate mathematical modeling into the classroom.
