Abstract

Based on research activities in teaching and innovating teaching methods in General Education Curriculum 2018, this article researches theoretical foundation to form a 6-step process of designing a rubric to assess research competence of students in junior high school in teaching natural sciences and to propose a rubric for assessing this competence so that teachers can use to test and evaluate students during the teaching process. This study then collected data on research competence of students in the teaching process. Students' research competence was assessed by Biology teachers at junior high schools.
