A PROPOSED SYSTEM OF EXCERPTS FOR “THE TALE OF KIEU” USED IN GRADE 11 READING COMPREHENSION TEACHING BASED ON THE 2018 LANGUAGE ARTS AND LITERATURE CURRICULUM

Abstract
Based on narratology theory, education contents, requirements and criteria for text selection in the 2018 Language Arts and Literature Curriculum, we conducted this study to find the excerpts from The Tale of Kieu used in Grade 11 reading comprehension teaching. Based on differentiated instruction spirit, we also studied and designed a tool to assess the excerpt’s difficulty. Recognizing the important and special position of The Tale of Kieu’ excerpts (as well as the other of Nom narrative poetry) for the development of students’ abilities and qualities, we believe that is a potential research direction for a long time with many other literature text genres.
