INVESTIGATION ON THE USE OF DIGITAL HUMANITIES METHODS BY THE FACULTY MEMBERS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES – VNU HCM

Abstract
The digital humanities are increasingly becoming a prominent research trend, requiring the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the employment of digital humanities methods and tools. The paper explores the purposes of ICT application and the current situation of using digital methods in research and teaching by faculty members at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. The study used a questionnaire to survey 135 faculty members working full-time in the university. The research results showed the main purposes of ICT applications were for collecting research data, disseminating knowledge via online communication and interaction, and analysing and presenting data. Digital methods and tools had been interested in by faculty members but not deeply applied to support intensive research and teaching activities in the files of digital humanities.
