ONLINE STEM LESSON OF“FLOATING HOUSE MODEL” FOR GRADE 8 NATURAL SCIENCE

Abstract

In the 2018 General Education Curriculum, STEM education based on STEM lessons is encouraged. These lessons will havecontent and time as prescribed in the curriculum to develop relevant competences for students. This article presents a STEM lesson of “Floating house model”, which meets the requirements of Archimedes’ thrust,  part of Density and Pressure, Grade 8 Natural Science. Due to the Covid epidemic, the lesson was conducted online for 8th-graders. Some activities in the STEM lesson were adjusted to be appropriate for online teaching. The results show that science teaching in the form of STEM lessons allowed students become acquainted with practical issues and develop the required competence for natural science.
