Main Article Content
Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the factors affecting the decision to choose an English language major among freshmen at Ho Chi Minh University of Banking (HUB). Data were collected using Google Forms. A total of 234 students joined the study. The research results show that three factors positively affect students’ decision to choose an English language major: (1) reputation and career opportunities, (2) personal characteristics, and (3) university characteristics. Among these, reputation and career opportunities exert the most substantial impact, followed by personal characteristics and university characteristics. Based on these findings, the study proposes three recommendations: (1) further enhance HUB’s reputation and employment opportunities for students, (2) help prospective students recognize the compatibility between HUB and their personal characteristics, and (3) continue promoting the strengths of HUB’s characteristics.
