INTEGRATING EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT INTO THE “EARTH AND SKY” THEME IN GRADE 2 NATURAL SCIENCES AND SOCIAL STUDIES: A PROJECT-BASED LEARNING APPROACH

Abstract
This study examined primary school teachers’ awareness and integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into the “Earth and Sky” theme using a project-based learning approach in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. The results showed that teachers understood clearly ESD’s concept, role, and significance. Most teachers viewed the integration of ESD into project-based learning as appropriate and ESDbeneficial for student development. They also supported the use of assessment tools such as rubrics and observation sheets However, challenges remain, including the lack of clear guidelines for ESD, project management, assessment methods, and limited implementation time. The research results provide a basis for developing specific teaching activities to effectively integrate ESD into the teaching of this theme using a project-based learning approach.
