THE CURRENT QUALITIES AND COMPETENCIES OF LECTURERS AT SELECTED PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract
The qualities, ethics, and competencies of lecturers play a crucial role in the development of private universities, especially in today’s increasingly competitive educational context. Standards of ethics, lifestyle, and work habits not only shape individual lecturers but also contribute to an institution’s reputation and academic quality. In addition to ethical qualities, teaching ability and professional expertise are essential for meeting the growing demands of education. The study found that the qualities and competencies of the lecturers at private universities in Ho Chi Minh City are highly regarded. However, challenges remain in research, foreign language proficiency, and digital competencies. This research provides valuable insights into the current qualities and competencies of lecturers at selected private universities in Ho Chi Minh City, offering a foundation for education managers to identify areas for improvement. It also serves as a strategic guide for universities to enhance teacher professional development. Improving the quality of lecturers will not only contribute to enhancing the quality of education but also increase the reputation and competitiveness of private universities within the broader academic ecosystem.
