A REVIEW OF ECOTOURISM MODELS IN THE WORLD AND VIETNAM: LESSONS LEARNED FOR DEVELOPING A MODEL IN THE ĐỒNG THÁP MƯỜI REGION
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article synthesizes and systematically analyzes existing research on ecotourism models (ET) both globally and in Vietnam, with the aim of drawing practical lessons to support the development of an ecotourism model tailored to the unique natural and socio-cultural conditions of the Dong Thap Muoi region. Based on a methodology combining literature review, content analysis, and comparative synthesis, the study clarifies various types of ecotourism models, including: comprehensive models, community-based models, specific ecological models, policy-management models, regional-sectoral linkage models, quantitative evaluation frameworks, and technology-driven innovations. The article highlights key factors in model design, such as wetland ecosystems, the central role of local communities, interdisciplinary integration, technological application, and adaptive management mechanisms. The research findings contribute to building both theoretical and practical foundations for sustainable ecotourism development in Dong Thap Muoi and other similar regions.
