EFFECT OF DYSPROSIUM DOPING ON THE STRUCTURAL AND PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF NICKEL SPINEL FERRITE NANOCRYSTALS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Undoped and dysprosium-doped nickel spinel ferrite nanoparticles (NiFe2–xDyxO4, x = 0, 0.025, 0.05, and 0.075) were synthesized via a simple co-precipitation method and systematically examined for their structural and optical properties. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) patterns confirmed the formation of a single-phase cubic spinel structure for all compositions with x < 0.075. Substitution with Dy3+ ions led to a decrease in crystallite size accompanied by an expansion of the lattice parameter. Optical analysis revealed that Dy incorporation significantly enhances absorption in the visible region (λ = 350–650 nm) and narrows the optical band gap from 1.80 to 1.73 eV, suggesting improved light-harvesting capability of Dy-doped NiFe2O4 materials.
