A STUDY ON THE MODEL OF ONLINE PSYCHOLOGICAL HELP-SEEKING BEHAVIOR AMONG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Main Article Content
Abstract
The boom in digital transformation and the rising prevalence of mental health issues among high school students have significantly shifted help-seeking behaviors from traditional environments to the Internet. Through an analysis of academic literature grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior, the Technology Acceptance Model, and help-seeking models, this paper demonstrates that the Internet has cultivated a digital mental healthcare ecosystem. While this environment helps mitigate stigma barriers through the online disinhibition effect and anonymity, it also introduces risks such as inaccurate self-diagnosis, the negative impacts of personalized algorithms, and data privacy breaches. Notably, there remains a specific gap in current research within Vietnam due to the lack of a specialized measurement tool for this behavior in a digital context. Asserting that no single model can adequately explain this complex phenomenon, the paper proposes the Integrated Model of Technology Acceptance in Mental Health Help-Seeking (i-HS-TAM). This integrated model provides a comprehensive explanation of the behavioral process through a psycho-socio-technological lens, establishing an essential scientific foundation for developing safe and humane school-based interventions.
