Abstract

In the context of international integration and the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program for Literature, creating a space for cultural dialogue within schools has become an urgent requirement. This paper aims to apply Genette’s theory of transtextuality as the primary theoretical framework to propose principles for teaching the reading comprehension of argumentative texts. By analyzing the correlation between two classic East Asian literary works, Chu Shi Biao and Dụ chư tì tướng hịch văn (Exhortation to the Military Generals), the article elucidates the inheritance and transformation of Confucian ideologies: Loyalty (忠) and Benevolence (仁). The findings contribute an effective intertextual reading comprehension teaching strategy and suggest approaches for organizing Confucian ideological dialogues in educational settings.
