Abstract

Communicative competence, particularly in Japanese, is becoming one of the essential competencies emphasized by advanced education systems worldwide, especially in Asia. However, the development of Japanese communicative competence for students still faces certain limitations and inadequacies. This article presents an analysis of the theoretical and practical foundations of applying Project-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance Japanese communicative competence. Furthermore, it establishes a five-step PBL implementation process designed for both short-term and long-term projects. These findings serve as a theoretical framework for researchers and a pedagogical reference for lecturers in utilizing PBL to improve the Japanese communicative competence of students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
