THE DECODE MODEL AND CLOUDCLASSROOM PLATFORM FOR ENHANCING QUESTION DESIGN SKILLS AND PERCEIVED TPACK OF PRE-SERVICE SCIENCE TEACHERS: A PILOT STUDY
Main Article Content
Abstract
This pilot study aimed to document the initial impact of an online professional development workshop designed to enhance Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) perceptions and question design skills in science lessons among pre-service teachers in natural science disciplines. The workshop was structured based on the DECODE model (DEmonstration – CO-design – DEbrief), consisting of three phases: demonstration, collaborative practice, and feedback-based refinement. It also integrated the CloudClassRoom (CCR) online platform to support interactive teaching activities. The intervention was implemented over three sessions with 25 pre-service science teachers. Pre- and post-intervention analyses of TPACK indicated changes in components related to technology integration. In addition, analysis of collaboratively developed lesson plans showed a shift in the quality of question sequences toward a learner-centered, thinking-oriented approach. This shift was reflected in an increased use of questions requiring explanation, reasoning, and analysis, as well as in the organization of questions following an IRFRF (Initiation – Response – Follow-up – …) sequence. These preliminary findings suggest the potential of the DECODE model combined with the CCR platform in supporting the development of technology-integrated questioning skills among pre-service science teachers.
